Final Box (pdf)
CONWAY, Ark. – The Coastal Carolina men's soccer team started play in the Sun Belt Conference tonight at conference-newcomer Central Arkansas, and the final score had a familiar ring to it in the 1-0 loss to the Bears.
It was the fourth consecutive game the Chanticleers have lost 1-0 despite outshooting the Bears 7-4 and 3-2 in shots on goal. Neither team could find the back of the net until the 76th minute when Truls Krabbesund Hansen was able to score on an assist from Ole Kjoerholte.
The Chanticleers controlled most of the game and showed their aggressiveness on the offensive end of the field. They finished the game with eight corner kicks and two offsides while UCA did not register a corner kick or an offsides.
DZ Harmon and
Kasper Skraep both had two shots to lead CCU's offense while
Jeranimo Power,
Martin Rydningen and
Claudio Repetto had one shot each. Claudio, Repetto and Rydningen all had shots on goal for the Chants.
The first half was a defensive stalemate as both teams' defenses controlled the pace of play. There was only one shot during the opening 45 minutes and that came off the foot of Harmon in the 45th minute.
CCU will be back in action in another road game when the Chants face UNC Wilmington on Tuesday, Oct. 15. The match will be played in Wilmington, N.C. and is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
