WILMINGTON, N.C. – The Coastal Carolina men's soccer made a trip up the road to Wilmington, N.C. to face the Seahawks of UNCW and the two teams played to a double-overtime draw as neither team could find the net.
 
The final stats will show just how close the match was as UNCW (7-4-2) had eight shots and CCU (4-6-2) seven. The Seahawks had three shots on goal with CCU two. The Chanticleers had 20 fouls called on them while UNCW had 19.
 
The home-standing Seahawks had 12 corner kicks to CCU's six, but the Chants were called for seven offsides and three for UNCW.
 
CCU had a chance to end the match in the first overtime when Tsiki Ntsabeleng was able to steal a pass just outside the 18 and went one on one with the UNCW goalie, but his shot just went wide and that was the best chance CCU had to score in the two extra periods.
 
Alberto Ciroi picked up his third shutout of the season with three saves including a diving save in the second overtime to keep the game scoreless.
 
The first half was a defensive battle with neither team able to generate much offense against the other's defense. UNCW had three shots in the opening half with one on goal while CCU only had one shot in the first 45 minutes.
 
The Chanticleers will be back in action with a third consecutive road game when they play at Appalachian State in an important Sun Belt Conference match up. The game will be Saturday, Oct. 19 and will begin at 7 p.m. Links for the live video feed and stats can be found at GoCCUsports.com.
