Coastal Carolina women’s tennis goes 9-7 in singles action and 4-2 in doubles

Charlotte, N.C. – On day two of the 49er Invite, the Coastal Carolina women's tennis competed in 16 singles matches as well as in six doubles bouts against Sun Belt foe Georgia State and a split lineup of Long Island, Princeton and Charleston Southern. For the day, the Chants ended up with a 9-7 record in singles action while going 4-2 in doubles play.

Maria Khomchenko continued her strong fall season going 4-0 on the day. In Flights F and H in singles action, Khomchenko finished 2-0 with victories over Ekaterine Jorjoliani of Long Island and Femcke van Rensburg of Charleston Southern. The Moscow, Russia senior, teamed up with classmate Alicja Zduniak to pick up two wins in doubles play of Flight B against Alexia Alvarez and Aleksandra Stromova of Georgia State and Bianca Compuesto and Elinor Storkaas of Long Island.

The duo of Jessie Mount and Valentina Urelli earned the win in Flight C over the Panthers tandem of Denisa Gheorghe and Mara Pop while in Flight D, Alexa Tiefel and Iryna Vardanian recorded a win over Anna Markvartova of Charleston Southern and Damira Muminovic of Georgia State.

The Chanticleers will return to action when they travel to Winston-Salem, N.C. to compete in the ITA Carolina Regionals on the campus of Wake Forest University, Oct. 24-28.
