
Chanticleers Cross Country at the ECU Invitational on Friday

CONWAY – On Friday, the Coastal Carolina cross country teams will travel to Greenville, N.C., to compete at the Lake Christie Cross Course for the ECU Invitational.
The last time out, the Coastal Carolina men's and women's harriers were tested against 89 teams and 762 runners at the 46th Annual Paul Short Run in Bethlehem, Pa.
Women
Junior Lisha van Onselen led all Chanticleer women on the day as she finished 49th and completed the 6k course with a time of 22:09.00.
Seniors Alyssa LeClaire and Alexis Carpenter helped the Chanticleers to a 32nd-place finish as they earned new personal-bests. LeClaire knocked off 9.7 seconds from her previous personal-best to finish with a time of 22:50.80. Carpenter shaved 11.7 seconds off her previous-best time to cross the finish line with a time of 24.90.90
Men
For the men, the top-five finishers all set personal-best times in the 8k race at Paul Short.
Andrew Southard led the Coastal men on the Goodman Campus Cross Country Course as he placed 264th out of 392 runners. The Ajax, Ontario native finished with a time of 25:48.40. Southard broke his previous personal-best by 55.90 seconds that he set originally at the 2018 Winthrop Invite.
Junior Michael Pieterse crossed the finish line at 26:17.20 and knocked off 25.39 seconds of his previous personal-best that he set at the 2018 Sun Belt Cross Country Championships.
Also, Junior Andrew Avery (26:22.90), freshmen Heath Olivieri (26:59.39), and freshman Dustin Chambers (27:13.90) clocked personal-best times. Each runner broke their previous-best time that was set on Oct. 4 at the Queen City Invite.
