Cary, N.C. – The Coastal Carolina men's tennis team had three teams in doubles action and two singles matches compete on day two of the ITA Carolina Regionals on Saturday, Oct. 19, in Cary, N.C.
In singles action, CCU's
Francesco Cori picked up a three set win over Miha Velicki of Winthrop while
Zak Talic fell in straight sets to Hugh Knapp of UNCG.
With the main draw of doubles being played in a single eight-point set due to the potential weather affecting the area. Coastal's duo of
Juan Castellanos and
Daiki Tanabe defeated the team of Nicolas Arduh and Vasil Ivanov of N.C. A&T before dropping their second round match to N.C. State's Tadas Babelis and Yannai Barkai.
After dropping the first round of the doubles main draw the tandem of
Zak Talic and
Francesco Cori rebounded to defeat Sun Belt foe Matvey Radionov and Alessio Azzalini of Appalachian State.
On Sunday, Oct. 20, Cori advanced in the singles consolation draw due to his opponent withdrawing due to an illness to close out the weekend for the Chanticleers.
