Chanticleers Earn Fourth Seed at Sun Belt Championships

Coastal Carolina women’s soccer team will play Georgia State on Nov. 6 in Foley, Ala.

New Orleans, La. – The Coastal Carolina women's soccer team finished the regular season in fourth place and will enter the Sun Belt Championships as the No. 4 seed, as announced by the league's office Tuesday. The Sun Belt Women's Soccer Championships will take place Nov. 6-8 in Foley, Ala. The first round is scheduled for Nov. 6 with the semifinals taking place on Nov. 8. The championship match will conclude the tournament on Nov. 10.
 
The Chanticleers finished with a 5-4-1 record in conference play to place in a three-way tie for fourth during the regular season standings. The Chants is 7-8-2 overall on the season.
 
Coastal Carolina, Georgia State and Texas State each finished tied with 16 points in the final standings. When looking at their records against each other - the teams each earned three points apiece, keeping them tied in the initial three-team tiebreaker. Looking at the tied teams' record against the next highest seed, South Alabama, all three lost to the Jaguars. Continuing down the line to No. 2 Troy, the Chants defeated the Trojans while both Georgia State and Texas State lost to Troy. Therefore, Coastal is awarded the higher seed.
 
CCU and Georgia State will replay the 2018 first round match when the Chants fell to the Panthers 3-2 in overtime.
