Women's Golf Heads to Virginia Beach

CONWAY – The Coastal Carolina women's golf team will travel north to play in the Princess Anne Invitational which is hosted by Old Dominion University.

The 54-hole Invite will be held Oct. 4-6 at the Princess Anne Country Club which is located in Virginia Beach, Va. The course is a par-70, 5,816-yard layout.

The Chanticleers knocked 11 strokes off their combined team score last week shooting a 902 at the Lady Paladin Invitational. That came on the heels of CCU's team score of 913 the week before at the Glass City Invitational to open the fall schedule.

Head Coach Katie Quinney will once again field a team full of youth this weekend. She will have three sophomores and two freshmen rounding out the lineup.

Sophomore Jenjira Jinangkul is coming off a 12^th-place finish last weekend at the Lady Paladin Invitational. She shot a three-over 219 (72-74-73).

Tiffany Arafi is also a returning sophomore from last season. She had an up-and-down tourney last weekend, but her 71 on the final day of action was the team's lowest score of the Invite as she finished with a 10-over 226.

The other three players continue their learning curve in their first year of competition with the Chants. Heidron Hylnsdottier, Sophia Carlsen and Caitlin Evans-Brand are all playing in just their third event as Chanticleers.

Evans-Brand shot a 13-over 229 last week, Carleson shot a 14-over 230 and Hylnsdottir finished with a 26-over 242.

CCU will join 14 other teams at the Invite which includes four teams ranked in the latest WGCA Top-50 poll. Central Florida will be the highest ranked team coming in at 32. LSU (38^th), Virginia Tech (43^rd) and East Carolina (46^th) are the other ranked teams.

The other participating teams are host Old Dominion, Campbell, College of Charleston, Chattanooga, Marshall, Middle Tennessee, Minnesota, Sacramento State, South Florida, and Texas-San Antonio.

The event is scheduled to tee off at 8 a.m. in 10 minute increments off both the first and 10^th tee. There will be live scoring each day by golfstat.com. The link for the scoring can be found at GoCCUsports.com.
