CONWAY – After winning its first road game of the season last week at Delaware State, the Coastal Carolina University men's basketball team returns home to host Greensboro College Wednesday, Dec. 4 at 7 p.m.

It will be the first time Greensboro and CCU have met on the hardcourt. The Pride are a member of the USA South Conference. The Chants have played 17 games against members of the USA South and hold a 16-1 record against those teams.

The last time CCU faced a team from the USA South Conference was last year when they hosted Methodist College. The Chants picked up an 88-57 win over the Monarchs.

The Pride enters the game at 4-2 on the year and bring a high-scoring team into the HTC Center averaging over 82 points per game and are coming into the game fresh off a 95-80 win over Warren Wilson.

Greensboro College has three players averaging double digits led by reigning USA South Player of the Week Michael Phifer. He is averaging 17.7 points per game while shooting 58 percent from the field and that includes 48 percent from three-point range. He is also a double-double machine for the Pride averaging 10.2 rebounds per game.

Keyford Langley is averaging 11.7 points per game and is the team's leader in assists. The third double-digit scorer for the Pride is Eric Peaks who is averaging 10.0 points per game.

Greensboro is also a solid defensive team, as the Pride is holding its opponents to only 40 percent shooting. They also average 45 rebounds per game.

CCU will look to continue its offensive production with five players averaging double digits. Keishaw Brewton continues to lead the offensive punch for CCU at 15.3 points per game. He is coming off a 19-point performance at Delaware State in which he hit six field goals from beyond the three-point line.

Tyrell Gumbs-Frater has continued his hot-shooting as he averages 14.3 points per game. He had a game-high 26 points in the road win at Delaware State with 24 of those points coming on eight three-point field goals. He is shooting just over 58 percent on his three-point attempts this season, which not only leads the Sun Belt but is also second in the nation.

DeVante' Jones has returned from his preseason injury and is averaging 13 points per outing. He is shooting 60 percent from the field and just over 50 percent on his three-point attempts. He has a team-leading 33 assists and is coming off his first double-double when he scored 10 points and grabbed a game and career-high 12 rebounds at Delaware State. He came up just short of a triple-double with eight assists.

Junior college transfer
Garrick Green has had a nice start to his CCU career. He is shooting 53 percent from the field in averaging 10.3 points per game. He has also been a nice addition on the boards averaging six rebounds per game and has a team-high nine blocked shots.

Senior
Tommy Burton has added his name to the double-digit scoring list. He is averaging 10 points per game from the post position and leads the team averaging 6.3 rebounds per game. He also had a double-double against Delaware State after scoring 15 points and grabbing 10 rebounds.

The Chants had 55 rebounds in the game and are averaging just over 40 per game, out-rebounding their opponents by over five per contest.
