BIRMINGHAM, ALA. – Junior
Erica Evans was on display for the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers women's indoor track and field team on the final day of the Sun Belt Championships at the Birmingham CrossPlex during the pentathlon as she finished fourth overall.
Evans finished in the top ten in each of the five pentathlon events while eclipsing two to personal bests marks. In the shot put, the junior threw a new benchmark of 10.88 meters. Her second best of the day came in the long jump (5.39 meters) as she was beat her old mark by a tenth of a meter more than the previous mark. In the 60 meter hurdles, the Atlanta native finished fourth as she finished in a time of 8.97. In the 800 meters, the multi event athlete finished in third place with a time of 2:24.52. Evans reached a height of 1.59 meters in the high jump and came in seventh place.
Freshman
Heather Delaplaine also set a personal best in the mile run when she finished 5:20.20.
Junior
Alyssa LeClaire finished sixth in the day's 800 meters with a time of 2:14.13.
Hesmari Coetzee took part of the 400 meters as the junior finished the event in sixth place with a time of 56.40.

Airika McCaskill ended her indoor season by shot putting a distance of 10.88 meters
The 4x400 team of the Evans,
Mya Ray, LeClaire, and Delaplaine rounded out the day with a time of 4:00.08.
The CCU women ended the championships finishing 12
th overall, earning 12 points.
Coastal Carolina will start their outdoor season on March 8 and 9 as they host the Coastal Carolina Invitational at Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium in Myrtle Beach.
