Conway, S.C. – The No. 19 Coastal Carolina baseball team will host the 20th annual Brittain Resorts Baseball at the Beach this weekend, Feb. 22-24, with six games taking place at Springs Brooks Stadium on the campus of Coastal Carolina University and one contest to be held at the Myrtle Beach Pelicans' TicketReturn.com Field in Myrtle Beach.
This year's tournament field also includes Kent State, Michigan State and NC State.

Chants Chatter
- CCU is off to a 4-0 start to the season for the first time since 2008 when the Chants posted back-to-back wins over Maryland and then two-straight victories over Virginia Tech at the IMIChotels INN-vitational. The Chanticleers began the 2008 season going 14-1 over their first 15 games.
- Coastal Carolina is hosting its second of three home weekend tournaments this season and is scheduled to play its fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh home games of the year. The Chanticleers swept through the Brittain Resorts Invitational on Opening Weekend going 3-0 with wins over VCU (10-8), Maryland (7-2) and Campbell (11-2).
- This weekend's Brittain Resorts Baseball at the Beach event is the 20th annual event having started back in 2000 with a doubleheader versus Georgia Southern.
- Since 2015, with the completion of Springs Brooks Stadium, the Baseball at the Beach tournament has moved on campus as well as playing a few games at TicketReturn.com Field.
- All three opposing teams in this year's event have played in the Baseball at the Beach before - Michigan State in 2003, Kent State in 2001 and 2004, and NC State in 2007, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2015.
- Redshirt junior Kyle Skeels was tabbed the Community Coffee Sun Belt Conference Player of the Week on Feb. 19. Skeels hit .500 over the first three games of the season going 5-for-10 with four walks and one hit-by-pitch. He recorded two doubles, drove in four RBIs and scored three runs in helping lead Coastal Carolina to a 3-0 start. He also posted a .667 on-base percentage, a .700 slugging percentage, stole one base and threw out the lone would-be base stealer over the weekend.
- The Coastal Carolina offense has registered double-digit hits as a team in all four games thus far this season. The Chants totaled 11 hits versus VCU (Feb. 15), tallied 12 hits each in wins over Maryland (Feb. 16) and Campbell (Feb. 17) and picked up 10 base knocks on Tuesday in the road win at UNCW (Feb. 19).
- Coastal has a total of 14 different players that have recorded a base hit on the season over the first four games of play. A total of seven different Chants have combined to record 10 multi-hit games this season led by two apiece from outfield Kieton Rivers, first baseman Zach Biermann and catcher Kyle Skeels. Biermann has hit safely in all four games thus far this season and leads the team with seven base hits on the year.
- Redshirt junior Austin Kitchen will be making just the second start of his career on Friday in game two of the doubleheader versus Michigan State. His last start came versus Campbell on May 20, 2016. Kitchen, who missed all of last season due to an injury, returned to throw 3.0 innings out of the bullpen versus Campbell (Feb. 17) on Opening Weekend. He gave up two unearned runs on five hits, one walk and two strikeouts in his return.
- Freshman pitcher Alaska Abney has closed out three games for Coastal this season, registering two saves in the process. The side-twirler picked up a one-out save in the season-opening win versus VCU (Feb. 15) and then earned a 3.0-inning save at UNCW (Feb. 19), striking out four and walking two in 3.0-scoreless innings. On the year, Abney is 0-0 with two saves and a 0.00 ERA with four strikeouts, one hit and two walks in 4.1 innings of work over three appearances.
- The Chanticleers lead all of NCAA Division I baseball in double plays turned this season with seven. Coastal enters play this weekend as one of six teams ranked No. 1 nationally in double plays (7) on the year.
- A total of 12 teams on Coastal's schedule this season including Oregon State, the defending 2018 NCAA National Champions, NC State, Clemson, North Carolina, UConn, Indiana, Washington, Northeastern, UNC Wilmington, Troy, Campbell and Kent State all played in the 2018 NCAA Division I Baseball Championship Tournament last year.
