Men’s Tennis Keeps Rolling at Presbyterian

CLINTON, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina men's tennis team won its third straight match, and second in as many days, on Saturday as the Chanticleers defeated Presbyterian on the road, 4-2.
The Chants improve to 3-1 with their early-season winning streak, while Presbyterian falls to 5-3 following Saturday's loss.
Coastal surrendered the match's opening doubles point but rallied to win four of the six singles points.
Coastal's No. 2 pairing of Luiz Faria and Pyry Hyrkkonen won 6-3, but PC responded with 7-5 and 7-6 wins on courts three and one, respectively, to take a 1-0 match lead.
PC's lone singles point came from Nicholas McKinney at No. 4. The rest of the match belonged to Coastal.
Faria (No. 1) and Joel Popov (No. 3) both won in straight sets. The remaining points came from Gonzalo Achondo (No. 5) and Daiki Tanabe (No. 6), each winning their respective matches in three sets.
The No. 2 match between Zak Talic and Max Benson went unfinished in the third set.
"We passed an important test on the road today," said Coastal head coach Chris Powers. "After losing an intense doubles point, we rebounded nicely to get the win. There are still improvements to be made, but we are competing well and bringing a lot of intensity to the court."
Next up, the Chants travel to Campbell on Feb. 15 for a 2 p.m. match.
