DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Coastal Carolina men's tennis team won its fifth straight match Monday afternoon as the Chanticleers swept Embry-Riddle, 4-0, in the final match of their spring break trip in Florida.
 
Coastal improves to 9-3 with the win, and has now shut out its third opponent during its current win streak.
 
The Chants claimed the opening doubles points with wins on the third and first courts.
 
Embry-Riddle's second pairing of Andres Donayre and Lucas Bos earned the first half of the doubles point with a win at No. 2, but Francesco Cori and Daiki Tanabe evened the point with a 6-2 win at No. 3. The Chants' first doubles pairing of Joel Popov and Zak Talic sealed the point with a close 7-5 win.
 
Tanabe (No. 6) and Popov (No. 3) made it a 3-0 match with identical 6-1, 6-1 wins on their respective courts. Pyry Hyrkkonen provided the match-winner at No. 5, 6-4, 6-1.
 
The remaining three singles matches went unfinished once the match was won.
 
The Chants have almost a full week off before returning to action at defending national champion Wake Forest on Sunday. The Demon Deacons are currently ranked second in the ITA national poll.
