No. 16 Chants Set for Seattle Baseball Showcase

Coastal Carolina baseball will play three games inside T-Mobile Park in Seattle this weekend

Conway, S.C. – No. 16 Coastal Carolina will play three games in three days at the inaugural Seattle Baseball Showcase at the home of the Seattle Mariners in T-Mobile Park this weekend with contests versus San Diego (Friday, March 8), Washington (Saturday, March 9) and No. 1 Oregon State (Sunday, March 10).

Chants Chatter
  • The Chanticleers will open up their longest road trip of the season this weekend at the inaugural Seattle Baseball Showcase at T-Mobile Park with contests versus San Diego, Washington and No. 1 Oregon State. Coastal will play seven games over the 12-day road trip with contests at Clemson and ULM following the weekend of play in Seattle.
  •  Two of the last three NCAA College World Series Champions in Oregon State (2018) and Coastal Carolina (2016) will face off on Sunday at the Seattle Baseball Showcase. The Chants will also play two teams this weekend that played in the College World Series a year ago in Washington and the eventual 2018 champions in Oregon State.
  • Three Chants in Parker Chavers (19), Zach Biermann (18) and Kieton Rivers (18) rank 1-2-3 in the Sun Belt Conference in RBIs thus far this season.
  • Coastal has scored four runs or more in a single in 10 times this season, including a season-high six runs in the first inning in the 14-8 win over Wake Forest on March 6. The Chants are 8-1 this season in games which they post a "big inning" and posted two big innings of four runs or more in the win over Wake Forest on March 5.
  • Coastal enters play this weekend at the Seattle Baseball Showcase on a five-game winning streak with wins over Power 5 foes No. 25 Illinois (March 1), UConn (March 2), Indiana (March 3) and two games over Wake Forest (March 5-6).
  • The Chants offense ranks in the top six nationally in seven different categories - hits (2nd - 169), runs scored (3rd - 133), sacrifice flies (4th - 11), batting average (5th - .333), scoring (6th - 9.5), doubles (6 - 33) and on-base percentage (.445).
  • Coastal has had a total of seven different position players start all 14 games this season in Cory Wood, Kyle Skeels, Kieton Rivers, Scott McKeon, Parker Chavers, Zach Biermann and Keaton Weisz.
  • The Chanticleers have scored at least one run in the first inning in eight of their 14 games this season. When scoring in the first inning, Coastal Carolina is 7-1 on the year.
  • CCU is a perfect 9-0 this season when scoring 10 runs or more in the game. Coastal has also posted nine hits or more as a team in every game this season, including recording double-digit hits in 13 of its 14 contests thus far this year.
  • Coastal Carolina's pitching staff has combined to strike out 10 or more hitters in seven games this season. CCU's pitching staff recorded a season-high 13 strikeouts in back-to-back walk-off wins over Indiana (March 3) and Wake Forest (March 5).

  • Coastal Carolina will continue its road trip with a midweek tilt at nationally-ranked Clemson on Tuesday, March 13 at 6 p.m. ET.
