Coastal Carolina Invitational Results Day 2
MYRTLE BEACH - The Coastal Carolina Chanticleers wrapped up the final day of the Coastal Carolina Invitational on Saturday afternoon at Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium. As a team Coastal picked up seven first-place finishes and three personal bests.
Men
Freshman
Donavan Goode picked up the win in the 100 meters with a time of 10.85.
Keishaun Limehouse added a fifth-place finish as the junior ran 11.01. Other CCU runners coming in the top 20 in the 100 meters were;
Christian Johnson (13th),
Connor Langdon (15th),
Zahir Scott (19th), and
Kam'ron Bradford (20th)
Four Chants competed in the 1500 meters, but it was highlighted by
Andrew Southard's first-place finish. The junior ended the event with a personal best time of 3:56.22.
Junior
Hakeem Allen had the best time of any athlete in the 200 meters as he finished with a time of 21.85. Teammate
Ty Floyd finished within the top 15 as the sophomore ended the event at 22.90.
Freshman
Richie Sadler placed first in the triple the as the Greenville native jumped 14.68 meters
In the 3000 meters, two Chanticleers sophomores
Andrew Avery and
Elijah Lawson were able to place within the top 20 of the race. Avery picked up his first-ever first-place result as he ran 9:00.49. Lawson placed 17
th with a time of 10:09.56
Senior Tre' Stanley added his first ever first-place finish in the 400 meter hurdles when the Rock Hill native ended with a time of 54.28.
In the discus, freshman
Ryan Wheaton was able to place third overall with a distance of 44.34 meters. Wheaton was able to reach that distance in his sixth and final throw.
Wheaton also competed in the shot put where he finished fourth with a distance of 15.12 meters. Also in the shot put was senior
Kieran Moore. Moore finished right behind his teammate with his best throw of 14.58 meters.
A pair of Chants,
Cameron Butler and
Zackery White placed in the top 15 in the 400 meters. The sophomore Butler finished tenth and a time of 52.99. White finished 12
th and a time of 53.37.
Women
In the 100-meter hurdles,
Erica Evans finished in second place with a personal best time 14.48. Evans also competed in the 800 meter as the junior sprinted to another personal best time of 2:20.65, good for fifth place.
In the high jump, senior
Joya Blackwell was second with a personal best height of 1.60 meters. The Ahoskie, North Carolina native attempted 1.65 meters but was unable to meet the winning distance set by eventual winner Nia Gibbs of Austin Peay.
Hurdler
Kelsey Briggs placed fourth in the 400 meters hurdles with a time of 1:07.58.
The duo of
Sarah Lemon and
Giovanna Leone finished in the top 20 of the 1500 meters. The senior Lemon finished 15
th with a time of a 5:05.35. Leone finished just over a second behind Lemon, finishing with a time of 5:06.77 for 18
th place.
The Chants will be back on the track this coming Friday at Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium for the
Alan Connie Shamrock Invitational.
