Women’s Tennis Falls at College of Charleston

CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina women's tennis team had its three-match winning streak snapped Saturday afternoon as the Chanticleers suffered a 4-2 loss at College of Charleston.
Coastal falls to 4-5 overall following its fourth and final match to be played this week. College of Charleston, meanwhile, evens its overall record to 5-5.
CofC captured the opening doubles point with wins on the third and first courts.
Turner Yates and Sarah Zschunke bested Alexa Tiefel and Alicja Zduniak, 6-4, at No. 3. Jessie Mount and Jennifer Brown tied the point with a 6-3 win at No. 2, but the Cougars clinched the point with another 6-4 win at No. 1 by Anastasia Palaska and Christi Woodson over Viktorija Demcenkova and Somer Dalla-Bona.
As play turned to singles CofC took a 2-0 lead when Woodson bested Demcenkova in straight sets at No. 1. It then turned into a 3-0 lead for CofC following a win by Lily LaBiche over Mount at No. 4.
Coastal's first point of the match was provided by Brown in straight sets at No. 3, but the following point and match-winner went to CofC's Yates at No. 5.
Zduniak rounded out the match with a 7-6, 6-4 win at No. 6.
Coastal returns home on Monday to host Lehigh for a 2 p.m. match at the Stevens Tennis Complex.
