CONWAY – The Coastal Carolina women's tennis team won its fifth straight match – and recorded its second shutout in its last three matches – with a 4-0 blanking of Texas State Friday afternoon at the Stevens Tennis Complex.
Coastal improves to 14-7 overall with the win, and 7-2 in Sun Belt Conference matches.
The Chants took the doubles point with wins on the first and third courts, and completed the sweep with singles victories on courts three, four and five.
Coastal's first doubles pairing of Somer Dalla-Bona and Jennifer Brown started the day with a 6-1 win, and Alexa Tiefel and Alicja Zduniak secured the doubles point on the third court, 6-3.
All three of the Chants' singles points were won in straight sets.
Dalla-Bona won the third court, 6-1, 6-1, to remain unbeaten in Sun Belt singles matches. Zduniak took the fourth court, 6-0, 6-4. Jessie Mount's 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 5 completed the sweep for the Chants.
Coastal closes its regular season schedule on Sunday hosting UT Arlington at 10 a.m. at the Stevens Tennis Complex.
