Chants Chatter
  • Tuesday night's game versus the College of Charleston is the first home game for the Chanticleers thus far for the entire month of April. The game is the first of a four-game home-stand for Coastal at Springs Brooks Stadium, the Chants only four home games for the entire month.
  • Both Coastal Carolina and the College of Charleston enter the second meeting of the season between the two teams on a two-game losing streak. Coastal is coming off a pair of Sun Belt Conference losses at Little Rock in a doubleheader on April 12, while the Cougars dropped each of their last two games of their three-game series to Dallas Baptist (April 13-14) last weekend.
  • Coastal will look to avoid a pair of three-game losing streaks on Tuesday night versus the College of Charleston Cougars. Charleston has won each of the last two meetings between the two teams, while the Chants have also lost each of their last two games entering the midweek contest. CCU had a season-long three-game losing streak once this season which is tied for the longest skid for the Chants since dropping nine-straight games over the month of May back in 2014.
  • The Chanticleers will open up a four-game home-stand this week with Tuesday night's contest versus the College of Charleston. CCU will remain at home to host the Georgia Southern Eagles in a three-game Sun Belt Conference series among the top two teams in the East Division.
  • Coastal has recorded a total of five, five-plus RBI games this season by four different players. Jake Wright has driven five or more RBIs twice this season, both of which came in wins at ULM, while Kieton Rivers, Parker Chavers, and Kyle Skeels have all registered five RBIs or more in a game this season.
  • The Chanticleers have won six-straight non-conference home games entering Tuesday night's contest. After losing 7-6 in 11 innings to then-No. 21 NC State on Feb. 24, the Chants have gone 6-0 at home versus non-conference foes with wins over then-No. 25 Illinois (March 1), UConn (March 2), Indiana (March 3), Wake Forest (March 5 & 6) and UNCW (March 27).
  • Coastal leads the Sun Belt in seven key offensive categories this season. The Chants are first in the league in average (.299), slugging percentage (.480), on-base percentage (.407), hits (388), runs scored (281), RBIs (262) and home runs (47).
  • CCU's offense enters play this week with eight different players hitting over .300 on the season. Kieton Rivers leads the way hitting a team-high .362, while Jake Wright (.347), Parker Chavers (.342) and Scott McKeon (.340) are all hitting over .340 on the season and rank in the top-15 in the Sun Belt. Cameron Pearcey (.333), Cory Wood (.317), Dallas Callahan (.316) and Kyle Skeels (.306) are also hitting over .300 at the plate on the year.
  • This season, the Chants are averaging 9.2 strikeouts per nine innings this season. A total of 10 different pitchers have fanned more batters than then innings pitched on the year, while the Chants also lead the Sun Belt in batters struck out with 338 overall on the season.
  • Coastal Carolina and the College of Charleston are both coming off a double-digit loss, the two teams' worst losses of the season. Last time out, CCU was defeated 14-0 at Little Rock (April 12), while the Cougars were beat 14-4 by Dallas Baptist (April 14). The Chants loss was the first double-digit defeat since falling 19-9 at No. 20 Wake Forest on April 11, 2017 and the first time that they have been shut out since a 4-0 loss to Troy on April 28, 2017.
On Deck
  • The Chanticleers will wrap up the four-game home-stand with a pivotal Sun Belt Conference East Division showdown with the Georgia Southern Eagles. The three-game series will take place on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, April 18-20, due to Easter Weekend.
