AUSTIN, TEXAS –
The Coastal Carolina Chanicleer track and field season came to a close on Wednesday night with the 2019 NCAA Track and Field championships at Mike A. Myers Stadium on the campus of the University of Texas in the 10,000-meter men's final as it saw sophomore Nadeel Wildschutt earn second team All-American honors.

Along with his younger brother Adriaan Wildschutt, the two shot out of the gate early to take the lead and pace the 24-man group for the first nine laps of the night.

Nadeel led throughout eight of the first nine laps totaling a time of 10:33.39, with an average of 1:10.38. He maintained firm position near the front of the pack and picked up two of the fastest splits at the 400-meter mark (1:08.45) and the 1600-meter mark (1:09.55).

In the first one-third of Wednesday's race, Adriaan teetered between the top three positions, and temporarily took the lead over Nadeel after the 1200-meter split time of 3:29.60.

In laps four through nine, Nadeel retook the lead before Connor McMillan of Brigham Young University took the advantage. Wildschutt, McMillan and Azaria Kirwa of Liberty fought over the top spot over for the next several laps before the Ceres, South Africa native had retaken the advantage at the 6000 and 6400 meter splits.

Both of the Wildschutts were unable to keep up with the fast pace as they set early in race.  Both dropped to the middle of the pack where they finished out the race.

Nadeel finished the night in 13th-place with a time of 29:54.12. Adriaan kicked strong to the very end to earn himself an honorable mention All-American honor with a 19th-place finish with a time of 30:52.04.

BYU had three athletes in the top four positions and Clayton Young took home the victory for the Cougars with a time 29:16.60. Gilbert Kigen of Alabama finished second.
