CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – On Saturday, the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers took to the road to play the North Carolina Tar Heels for their lone exhibition outing of the season prior to kicking off the 2019 campaign on Friday, Aug. 30 at the University of Virginia in the Cavalier Classic.
The Chanticleers dropped the match to the Heels in straight sets, 20-25, 21-25, and 18-25.
The Tar Heels (.304) out hit the Chanticleers (.204) on the evening, but Chanticleer junior outside hitter
Ani Bozdeva had a match-high 13 kills and Preseason All-Sun Belt selection
Kyla Manning racked up 11.

Brigitta Petrenko had a match-high 30 assists with a .390 set percentage on 77 total attacks.
North Carolina as a team had seven service aces as Karenna Wurl had a match-high three. Austin Parker was the lone UNC hitter with double-digit kills (11). Mia Frandenburg had a match-high 10 digs.
Coastal Carolina kicks off the season on Friday against Loyola Maryland in Charlottesville, Va. The Chants will wrap up the Cavalier Classic with two matches on Saturday with Furman at 12:30 p.m. and against the host school Virginia Cavaliers at 6:30 p.m.
