Mt. Pleasant, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina women's tennis team wrapped up day two of the College of Charleston Invitational in Mt. Pleasant, S.C., Saturday evening. The second day of competition saw the completion of the singles portion of the invitational and the start of the doubles events.
In singles action, the Chanticleers went 6-8 with junior
Somer Dalla-Bona picking up two victories in the A1 singles flight. Dalla-Bona was leading in her first match of the day at 4-1 before her opponent retired due to injury and was in control from start-to-finish in her second match of the day, a 6-1 and 6-2 win over Lilie Steryous of Wofford. Jessie Mount chalked up two straight set victories in the A2 singles flight against Liz Williams (6-1, 6-1) of Charleston Southern and Elizabeth Goines (6-1, 6-4) of Sun Belt member Georgia Southern

Alexa Tiefel picked up a singles victory on Saturday, as she was ahead in the match before her opponent was disqualified while graduate student
Iryna Vardanian defeated Lily LaBiche (6-4, 6-3) of CofC in straight sets.
The doubles teams of
Alicja Zduniak/Valentina Urelli and
Alexa Tiefel/Maria Khomchenko each won their opening round matches to advance to the semifinals which will take place on Sunday. Zduniak and Urelli won 6-1 over the tandem of Victoria Walker/ Lily LaBiche of CofC, while Tiefel and Khomchenko upended Eleanor Campbell/Catalina Medici (CofC) 6-3.
