CONWAY – The Coastal Carolina volleyball team will make its 2019 home debut at the HTC Center on Friday when the Chanticleers host Georgia Southern at 6:30 p.m. Coastal will also welcome Georgia State to the HTC Center on Sunday for a 12:30 p.m. match.

Better Late Than Never
For the third consecutive year, Coastal is playing its home opener in the final week of September. Since the 2017 season, hurricanes (or the threat of) have forced the Chants to cancel or move multiple home events, delaying the team's first match in front of a home crowd.
Chants Scaling Up
In addition to being ranked among the top-25 teams in NCAA Division I volleyball in terms of winning percentage, the Chants are also among the national leaders in several important statistical categories.
Through 12 matches, Coastal's 104 service aces rank fourth among all teams, while its 2.21 aces per set rank fifth. The Chants are first in the Sun Belt in both categories.
Coastal also leads the Sun Belt with a .308 hitting percentage, which ranks sixth in the nation.
Individually,
Anett Nemeth ranks in the top-100 in aces per set (26th), total aces (52nd) and kills per set (63rd).
Brigitta Petrenko is also among the nation's leaders in total aces (17th), aces per set (31st) and assists per set (31st).
Scouting the Opposition
Georgia Southern enters Friday's match ranked fourth in the Sun Belt East with a 5-6 overall record. The Eagles are 1-4 in their last five matches, sweeping North Dakota State but falling to Winthrop (0-3), North Florida (2-3), Tennessee (0-3) and ETSU (2-3). The Eagles are led by Maddie Bryant's 3.18 kills per set (seventh in the Sun Belt) and Madison Browns 9.69 assists per set (fourth in the Sun Belt).
Georgia State currently sits right behind Georgia State in the division with a 4-7 overall record. The Panthers have also lost four of their five, with their latest win coming against Northwestern State in four sets on Sept. 20. GSU's defense features the Sun Belt's leading blocker in Meisheia Griffin (1.31 blocks per set) as well Lauren Bandera, who's 4.98 digs per set ranks second in the conference.
