Chanticleers on the Road at the Liberty Kickoff

CONWAY, S.C. - The Coastal Carolina indoor track and field team heads to Lynchburg, Va., for week two of the indoor track and field season as they prepare for the two-day Liberty Kickoff at the Liberty Indoor Track and Field Complex.
The competition begins Friday at noon with the combined events and will conclude on Saturday at 6:00 p.m. with the women's 3000 meters.
Last weekend at the Gamecock Opener in Columbia, S.C., veterans Katie Bond, Hesmari Coetzee, and Cera Chavez were a few of the notable performers for the Chanticleer team.
In the pole vault, Bond achieved a second-place finish with a personal best height of 3.05 meters, besting her mark of 2.90 meters from last February's Liberty Kickoff.
Senior Hesmari Coetzee finished in 10th-place of the 400 meters with a first-place finish in the seventh of the event's 22 flights. It was the seventh time of her career running the indoor 400 meters, and the Riebeeckstad, South Africa native, earned a personal-best time of 56.27.
In her first event as a Chanticleer, redshirt sophomore Cera Chavez was able to earn a fifth-place finish in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.82. Earlier in the day, the transfer from Memphis was to run 7.78 in the prelims.
