NEW ORLEANS, LA. - On Thursday, the Men's Scholar Athlete of the Year and All-Academic Individuals for the 2019 NCAA Division I Cross Country season were announced by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
Coastal Carolina runners Adriaan Wildschutt and Nadeel Wildschutt were selected as two of the 117 named to the All-Academic Individuals in NCAA Division I.
To qualify for the All-Academic award, the Ceres, South Africa natives needed to maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 3.25 on a 4.0 scale and finish in the top-25 (or 10 percent) at the NCAA Regional Championships or as an All-American at the NCAA Championships.
Adriaan and Nadeel advanced to the 2019 NCAA Cross Country Championships as they finished fifth and seventh respectively at the NCAA Southeast Regionals in Charlottesville, Va.
The First Team All-Sun Belt athletes also earn the distinction as the first male cross country runners since Terah Kipichris in 2003 to win the award.
