Conway, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina men's basketball team will begin its' Texas road trip with a Thursday, Jan. 9 game at Texas State at 8 p.m. (ET).

The will feature the Chanticleers league-leading offense and Texas State's top scoring defense. CCU enters the game averaging 81.2 points per game to lead the Sun Belt while the Bobcats boast the conference's top-scoring defense allowing its opponents only 64.8 points per game.

Texas State enters the game 8-8 overall, but an uncharacteristic 1-4 through the first five games of the Sun Belt schedule and are in the midst of a 2-6 run over its last eight games.

CCU (10-6/3-2 Sun Belt) enters the game winners of two consecutive and seven of its last 10.

The game will have some of the top players in the conference. The Bobcats' Nijal Pearson is the Sun Belt's leading scorer averaging 19 points per game.

Meanwhile, CCU's
DeVante' Jones has five double-doubles which is second in the conference while averaging over 15 points per game. While Jones is fifth in the conference in scoring he is also third in field goal percentage (.507), fourth in free throw percentage (.849), 20
th in rebounding (5.1), sixth in steals (1.7) and leads the Sun Belt in assists with 88 and assists per game (5.9).

Tyrell Gumbs-Frater continues to be the three-point leader in the conference shooting just over 51 percent on his long-range attempts while averaging 12.7 points per game.

Other double-digit scorers for CCU are
Keishawn Brewton over 14 points per game and
Tommy Burton averaging 10.9 points per game.
