CONWAY, S.C. – Coming off a perfect start to the 2020 season with three victories on the road at Georgia State last weekend, Coastal Carolina will travel to South Alabama for another three-match Sun Belt Conference series beginning at noon ET on Thursday, Oct. 15, in Mobile, Ala.

The Chanticleers (3-0, 3-0 SBC) dropped just one set on their opening weekend and will look to remain unbeaten against the Jaguars (4-5, 4-1 SBC).  Following the opening match on Thursday, the two teams will play the second match of the doubleheader beginning at 7 p.m. ET.  The final match of the series will be played on Friday, Oct. 16, at 1 p.m. ET.  All three matches will be aired on ESPN+.

Setting the offense for Coastal Carolina is the current Sun Belt Setter of the Week Brigitta Petrenko, who posted 67 set assists in two matches last week.  The Chanticleers have a talented group of attackers awaiting Petrenko's passes, led by senior Ani Bozdeva and junior Anett Nemeth.  Bozdeva put down 31 kills in three matches against Georgia State and posted an impressive .482 attack percentage.  Nemeth, the 2019 Sun Belt Player of the Year, started 2020 where she left off a season ago as she led the Chants with 43 kills (4.30 Kills per set).  Defensively, sophomore Lina Perugini led Coastal with 46 digs.

South Alabama is coming off of a three-match sweep last weekend at Appalachian State and will enter Thursday's match riding a four-match winning streak.  The Jaguars are led by Hannah  Maddux's 88 kills (2.67 kills per set) and Meaghan Jones' 51 kills (2.32 kills per set).  Maddie Soboleski sets the Jaguars attack with 280 set assists (8.24 set assists per set) while Rachel Hickey leads the defensive game with 176 digs.
