CONWAY, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina women's soccer team will take its 3-1 record on the road this week when the Chanticleers travel to Statesboro, Ga., to face Georgia Southern. The match is scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 8 at 6 p.m. ET.
The Chants currently stand second in the Sun Belt's East Division standings, one match behind league-leader South Alabama (4-2 / 4-1 SBC).
Georgia Southern will enter the contest fifth in the East with a 1-5 overall record and are 1-3 in the conference.
Both teams are coming off impressive wins as CCU defeated Appalachian State 1-0 in double overtime this past Sunday, while Georgia Southern broke a five-match losing streak with a 2-1 road win at Troy.
Loranna Austin leads CCU with six points on three goals and
Mackenzie Gibbs, who got the match-winner against Appalachian State, has four points.
It has been hard to focus on one player for the Chants this season as 11 different players have made their way into the scoring column via goal, assist, or both.
Ky Hudson has been the stopper for the Chants as the sophomore goalie has only allowed six goals this season. She has a 1.42 goals-against average and has 17 stops.
The Chant's next home match is slated for Sunday, Oct. 11 at 1 p.m. ET against Georgia State.
