CONWAY, S.C. – After a delay in the start of the college basketball season, the Coastal Carolina men's basketball team is set to open the 2020-21 season against North Carolina Wesleyan, Saturday, Nov. 28 at 4 p.m. ET. The game will be the second part of a doubleheader with the women's basketball team.
For both the men's and women's basketball season openers on Saturday, there will be no outside tickets available. Attendance will be limited to those listed on the team pass lists.
This will be the fourth contest between the two with teams the Chanticleers winning the previous three outings. The last time the two faced each other was during the 2015-16 season, a 98-73 CCU victory.
The Chants will have all-everything
DeVante' Jones back to lead CCU. He was an all-conference pick last year and was a preseason All-Sun Belt pick heading into this season.
CCU returns nine players this season, six of which have started during their CCU career. The big returner all Chants fans are waiting for is the return of redshirt-sophomore
Ebrima Dibba, who missed the final 27 games last season after suffering an injury in the sixth game.
The Chants have added seven new players to the roster, including redshirt-freshman
Essam Mostafa, a former three-star signee that sat out last season.
CCU also has head coach
Cliff Ellis returning for his 14th season at the helm of the Chanticleers. He enters the season needing only four wins to break into the top 10 of coaches with the most all-time NCAA-DI wins. He trails the iconic Lefty Driesell by four games.
Among all active D-I coaches, Ellis is fifth with his 858 total collegiate wins.
North Carolina Wesleyan enters the season fresh off a 13-13 season that saw them go 9-8 in the USA conference. They have eight returners from last season's team and have added eight newcomers to the 2020-21 roster.
