Coastal Carolina Women’s Basketball Set to Tip-Off Against S.C. State

Chanticleers coming off record-breaking season
CONWAY, S.C. – Coastal Carolina's women's basketball will open the 2020-21 season at home in The HTC Center on Saturday, Nov. 28, at 1 p.m. ET against South Carolina State. The game will be part of a season-opening doubleheader as the Coastal Carolina men's basketball team will host N.C. Wesleyan with tip-off set for 4 p.m. ET.
For both the men's and women's basketball season openers on Saturday, there will be no outside tickets available. Attendance will be limited to those listed on the team pass lists.
The Chanticleers are coming off of the best season in Coastal women's basketball history with an overall record of 25-4 and a Sun Belt Conference record of 15-3.
The 2020-21 Coastal squad will be led by Sun Belt preseason first-team all-conference selection Aja Blount. The junior forward played in 28 games last season, starting one, and was second on the team with 14.7 points per game. She also averaged 6.4 rebounds per game and earned All-Sun Belt second team at the end of the season.
While Blount is the leading returner, gone are four of Coastal's five starters from 2019-20 with forward Janae Camp being the lone returning starter. Overall, the Chants have lost seven players off of the roster from last season and with them departed over 69 percent of the scoring and 59 percent of the rebounds.
The Chanticleers defeated South Carolina State last season 85-44 in The HTC Center and have a three-game winning streak against the Bulldogs.
The Coastal Carolina women's basketball game will be broadcast on the Chanticleer Radio Network on 105.5 Hank FM and also broadcast online on ESPN+.
