CONWAY, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina women's soccer will open play in the 2020 Sun Belt Conference Women's Soccer Championship against Louisiana Wednesday, Nov. 4 at noon ET at the Foley Sports Tourism Complex in Foley, Ala.
The Chants (6-4 / 6-4 SBC) enter the tournament as the third seed in the East Division while the Ragin' Cajuns (8-4-1 / 4-3-1 SBC) are the second seed out of the West.
These two teams have met five times on the pitch with CCU holding a 3-1-1 edge in the series. The first time the two teams met was back in 2003 in a tournament in Baton Rouge, La., a match in which the Chants pulled out a 1-0 win.
The programs then went 13 years before meeting again in 2016, the first year the Chants had joined the Sun Belt. Since then the Chants have a 2-1-1 record against Louisiana, with last year's 3-1 Ragin' Cajuns win being their first in the series. The two teams did not meet this year due to a division-only conference schedule played due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
CCU has scored 46 points this season with
Loranna Austin leading the way with nine.
Mackenzie Gibbs has eight and
Megan Brouse has seven.
Ky Hudson has had a solid year in goal for the Chants with three shutouts over the course of the season. She has 56 saves and a .836 save percentage.
While playing three more matches this season, Louisiana has scored 54 points with Lizzie Mayfield scoring 15 and Una Einarsdottir with 10.
