CCU Travels to Wofford

CONWAY, S.C. – After opening the season with four consecutive home games, the Coastal Carolina men's basketball team will hit the road for the first time this season when they travel to the upstate to face Wofford. The game is set for Tuesday, Dec. 15 at 6 p.m. ET.

Despite being only three hours apart, the two teams have only met on the hardcourt four times with the Terriers winners of three of those four contests. CCU won the opening game of the series (71-63) back in 2015, but Wofford has won the past three times including an 82-71 win in Spartanburg in 2018, the last time they met.

The Chants (4-0) enter the game leading the nation in scoring at 102.8 points per game. They have hit the century mark in three of their opening four games. Historically, the Chants have reached the century mark three times in four different seasons, but in the 1992-93 season, CCU hit the mark a record four times.

DeVante' Jones leads the team in scoring averaging almost 18 points per game. His 25-point scoring push against Greensboro gave the junior 965 career points as he makes his way to becoming the 23rd player in CCU history to reach 1,000.

Deanthony Tipler (16.5), Essam Mostafa (16.3), and Tyrik Dixon (12.5) all average in double-digits for the Chants. Ebrima Dibba, who continues to work his way back from a season-ending injury last season, is scoring nine points per game, but his worth has come in the pass where he leads the team with 27 assists, although he is not considered the starting point guard on the team.

Wofford (2-2) also knows how to put the ball in the basket, as the Terriers are averaging 81.8 points per game. Storm Murphy leads the Terriers with an average of 18.3 points per game. He is shooting over 55 percent from the field and over 38 percent from beyond the three-point line.

Tray Hollowell is averaging 16.3 points per game and is coming off a 21-point effort in the team's loss at South Florida. He is followed by Messiah Jones who scores at a 12.8 points per game clip and is the team's top rebounder at eight per game while also leading Wofford in shooting knocking down over 64 percent of his field goal attempts.

The game will be broadcast on ESPN+ (subscription required). Live stats will also be available at www.GoCCUsports.com
