CONWAY, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina men's basketball team will jump back into action when they host North Carolina Central Monday, Dec. 7 at 6 p.m. ET.
It will be the sixth time the two teams have met on the hardcourt with the Chanticleers winners of the five previous outings, including a 91-71 victory last season.
The Chants (2-0) are coming off a 113-56 win over Columbia International, marking the second consecutive game CCU has scored over 100 points. It is the first time since the 1992-93 season CCU has opened the season with consecutive 100-point games when the Chants opened the season beating Methodist (101-51) and Bryan (112-88).
After two games, redshirt freshman
Essam Mostafa leads the Chants in scoring average 23 points per game, and also leads CCU in rebounding averaging 11 per game.
Mostafa is coming off his first collegiate double-double after scoring 25 points and grabbing 15 rebounds against Columbia International.
The Chants have five players averaging in double digits. Joining Mostafa are
Deanthony Tipler (21.5),
Tyrik Dixon (15.5),
DeVante' Jones (13.5) and
DeShawn Thomas (11.5).
Ebrima Dibba has been looking like he is close to being his old self before his injury last season. He scored 16 points with five rebounds in the win over CIU and had game-highs in assists (6) and steals (6).
NCCU (1-1) enters the game averaging 76 points per game led by C.J. Keyser's 24 points per outing. Jamir Moultrie averages 12 points and Nicolas Fennell averages 10.
