CONWAY – The Coastal Carolina University men's basketball team will host a streaking South Alabama team Saturday, Feb. 22 at 2 p.m. at the HTC Center.
 
The Jaguars (17-11/10-7 Sun Belt) come into Conway riding a five-game winning streak, the longest current winning streak in the conference. In fact, USA has won 11 of its past 16 games.
 
USA's streak has moved them into a tie for fourth place in the conference, only one game out of second and three games out of first.
 
Josh Ajayi leads a well-balanced scoring attack for South Alabama averaging 16 points per game. The Jags have four players averaging in double digits as the team averages over 71 points per game.
 
Chad Lott (12.8), Andre Fox (12.1) and Trhae Mitchell (10.8) join Ajayi in double-digit scoring with USA shooting .466 from the field, second-best in the Sun Belt.
 
CCU is looking to build on its 90-60 win over Troy, in one of its most complete games of the season. The Chants shot a season-best 60 percent from the field and held Troy to 33 percent in the 30-point victory.
 
The Chants 90-point outburst now has CCU averaging 78.2 points per game, second in the Sun Belt and sophomore DeVante' Jones leads the charge averaging 16.3 points per game. He is also the team leader in assists (151) and in steals (39).
 
Tommy Burton is averaging 11.9 points per game and is the team-leader in rebounds grabbing 7.4 per outing. Tyrell Gumbs-Frater is also in double-digits averaging 10.4 points per game.
 
The Chants have moved into a tie for eighth-place in the Sun Belt, and looking to improve their conference standings as only the top ten team's move on to the Sun Belt Conference Championship.
 
Before Saturday's matinee, the 2020 senior class will be honored before the game; Tommy Burton, Tyrell Gumbs-Frater, and Josh Peterson.
