Boulder, Colo. - The Coastal Carolina women's lacrosse team fell 19-8 to No. 24 Colorado on Sunday afternoon in Boulder, Colo. With the loss, the Chants fall to 2-2 on the year while the Buffalos improved to 3-2 on the season.
Megan Busch led the Coastal offense with three goals while
Lyla Robinson and
Megan Bozzi each found the back of the net two times. The Chanticleers leading scorer
Samantha Courtemanche assisted on three goals to give her 16 points on the year.
Colorado was led by Charlie Rudy with nine points. Rudy scored eight goals while assisting on another score. Chloe Ward added four goals while Zoe Lawless chipped in three.
The Buffalos opened the scoring early as Rudy connected on four of the game's first five goals as Colorado jumped out to a 4-1 lead with 22:06 remaining in the opening half of play.
Robinson cut the lead to two at 4-2 with 21:35 remaining before CU opened up the lead to 6-2. Bozzi and Robinson pulled Coastal back to within two at 14:10 in the first half.
The Buffalos fired off four goals before
Abbey Buchanan found the back of the net with seven seconds remaining in the first half as CCU trailed 10-5 at the break.
Colorado would continue the torrid scoring pace as the Chants would get no closer as Busch recorded her hat-trick in the second half with goals at 28:56, 13:19, and 3:04.
Coastal Carolina will close out the season opening road trip at No. 14 Denver in Denver, Colo. on Wednesday, March 11. The opening draw is scheduled for 3 p.m. ET.
