CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina men's tennis team posted five wins on the opening day of the College of Charleston Team Invite on Friday, Oct. 1.

Singles action was up first for the Chants. Leading the way for the men in the teal was super senior Diego Giraldo who defeated Damien Nezar of the Campbell Fighting Camels 6-7, 6-4, 6-4. Newcomer Federico Garnier earned a 7-5, 6-4 decision over Robin Angles of Campbell, while CCU's Bastien Huon beat Noe Macquart 6-3, 6-4 to finish off session one of the day.

In doubles action, the duo of Huon and Niccolo Rossi lead the way and earned a 6-4 victory over Macquart and Angles of Campbell. To close out day one action, Carlos Berna Ruiz and Neil O'Connor posted a 6-4 decision over Nezar and Ted Williams from Campbell.

"All in all, it was a good first day. Campbell is much improved from last season and had tournament under their belt going into this one and it definitely showed at times," stated head coach Chris Powers. "We completed well overall and it was great to see Diego close out that last one like an experienced senior."
