CONWAY, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina women's soccer team returns to the pitch for its final two regular-season road matches as the Chants take on Georgia Southern on Friday night before facing off against Troy on Sunday afternoon. The kickoff is set for 7 p.m. ET on Friday and 1 p.m. ET on Sunday. 
 
Heading into the weekend, the Chanticleers are 4-6-2 overall and 2-3-1 in Sun Belt play while Georgia Southern is 9-4-3 overall and 4-1-2 in the Sun Belt and Troy holds a 5-7-1 overall record and a 2-4-0 mark in conference play.

Coastal is coming off a 1-0 victory over conference foe, Louisiana last Friday (Oct 8) at the CCU Soccer Stadium. Friday's match marked the Chants' second shutout of the season as 
Ky Hudson recorded six saves and notched her ninth career shutout. 
Costal recorded the lone goal of the contest as 
Mackenzie Cherry picked up a ball near midfield before taking it downfield and sending a through ball to 
Megan Brouse who recorded her third goal of the season in the 25th minute.
 
SCOUTING THE EAGLES
	- Michaela English was named the Sun Belt Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week on Tuesday (Oct. 12) after making eight save, including saving a penalty kick in regulation to earn her sixth shutout of the season. The freshman currently leads the nation in goalkeeper minutes played with 1,495 and has a Sun Belt-best 81 saves (0.78 GAA). 
 
- Marcela Montoya was named to the Sun Belt's preseason All-Conference Team. Montoya was one of four forwards named to the 11-person team after earning First Team Sun Belt honors in 2020. She scored five goals in 2020, including a pair of game-winning.
 
- The Eagles finished the 2020-2021 season with an overall record of 4-12-1 overall and 3-6-1 in the Sun Belt play before falling to Little Rock 2-1 in the Sun Belt Championships. 
SCOUTING THE TROJANS
	- Nicole Waters was named the interim head coach for the Trojans and becomes the first head coach in program history to win their first career match and have it be against a Division I opponent. She is also just the fourth coach in program history to win their debut match at Troy.
 
- The Trojans return their top three goal scorers, assist leaders, and total point earners from last season. Kate Eubanks & Melissa Kuya-Strobel tied for the most goals scored (3) and points earned (7) while Taytum Terrell finished third in each statistic (5 points, 2 goals). Alisa Detlefsen led the team in assists (3) while Erin Bloomfield finished second (2) & Eubanks third (1).
 
- Troy will have one of the youngest rosters in the Sun Belt Conference this season with 18 freshmen and eight sophomores. Troy will have just three seniors and no juniors. Of Troy's 18 freshmen, nine are first-year players with the other nine retaining their freshman eligibility due to the NCAA giving all players from last season a free year due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
