Chants looking for another strong Fall outing
CONWAY, S.C. – After a week off, the Coastal Carolina University women's golf team will jump back into action on Oct. 18-19 at the Buccaneer Classic. Charleston Southern University will host the event at The Oak Point Golf Club located on Kiawah Island, S.C.
The Oak Point Golf Club is laid out over 6,100 yards and is scored as a par-72. The Classic will feature 54 holes over the two days with 36 holes played on Monday and the final 18 on Tuesday.
Joining Coastal Carolina and host Charleston Southern in the 13-team field are Gardner-Webb, Georgia Southern, Houston Baptist, Limestone, Presbyterian, Radford, The Citadel, USC Upstate, Western Carolina, Winthrop, and Wofford.
The Chanticleers have had two strong performances so far this fall with a fourth-place finish at the Lady Paladin Invitational and a third-place finish at the Evie Odom Invitational. Their performances this fall have helped the Chants move up to 59th in the latest Golfstat rankings.
Head coach Katie Quinney will have the same lineup for the third consecutive event led by seniors Tiffany Arafi and Caitlin Evans-Brand. Arafi has had a stellar fall with two top-five finishes. She was fourth in the season-opener at the Lady Paladin Invite and finished second at the Evie Odom Invitational, where she shot a program-record 64 in the second round. She is the reigning Sun Belt Conference Women's Golfer of the Week.
Joining Arafi and Evans-Brand will be Sophia Carlsen, Jenjira Jinangkul, and Sara Sarrion. Maika Llarena will make the trip and play the event as an individual.
