Men's Golf Back in Action at the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate

CONWAY, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina University men's golf team will be back in action this weekend at the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate being played Oct. 10-12 at the Blackthorn Club, hosted by East Tennessee State.
The Chanticleers last played this event in 2019 and finished eighth with an 18-under par 846. Seth Taylor and Gavin Noble are the lone holdovers on this year's team that played two years ago.
The Blackthorn Club golf course is laid out over 7,147 yards and will score as a par-72. This year's field will consist of 15 teams, including six former Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate champions, led by defending the champion Louisville. The Chants are also one of the former champions, winning the event back in 2008.
Five top-50 programs will also dot the leaderboard led by No. 11 North Carolina State. Other teams in the latest Golfweek top-50 rankings include No. 16 UAB, No. 20 and host East Tennessee State, No. 40 Louisville, and No. 50 Charlotte.
Other teams joining the Chanticleers in the field are Augusta, Chattanooga, College of Charleston, Furman, Georgia Southern, Maryland, Penn State, Villanova, and Virginia Tech.
Head Coach Jim Garren will have a lineup of Seth Taylor, Gavin Noble, Trey Crenshaw, Garrett Cooper, and Luke Nelson. Viktor Olund will also make the trip for CCU and will play as an individual.
"We are ready to get back out and compete," Garren said. There is a good field on a golf course that as a team we have been to a lot over the years. This is a yearly event for us, but only Seth and Gavin have competed in it. The boys are eager to get back out and we are looking forward to a nice week."
