CONWAY, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina women's basketball team will head to in-state foe South Carolina State for a Saturday evening tilt. The opening tip is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET at the Smith-Hammond-Middleton Memorial Center in Orangeburg, S.C., on Nov. 13.
 
The Chanticleers enter the matchup after dispatching the undermanned Agnes Scott 117-25 on Nov. 9 to begin 1-0 for the fifth-straight season, while the Bulldogs fell 80-52 to Old Dominion last Tuesday to start 0-1.
 
COASTAL vs. SOUTH CAROLINA STATE HISTORY
 
The series between the two programs is nearly equal as the Chanticleers trail 11-12 overall. CCU currently owns a four-game winning streak over the Bulldogs, and ironically Coastal fell 78-55 the last time these two teams matched up at South Carolina State. The home team holds the advantage over the visiting team as CCU has a 6-4 record at home but trails 3-6 on the road against the Bulldogs.

Newcomer 
Jordyn Newsome leads five Chants on the offensive end of the hardwood with an average of 20.0 points per game while senior 
Janeen Camp and freshman 
Angie Juste-Jean are adding 18.0 points per contest. Fellow newcomers 
Blayre Shultz and 
Arin Freeman are chipping in with 12.0 and 10.0 points per game, respectively.
 
On the defensive end of the court, Coastal is allowing 25 points per game and grabbing 51 rebounds per contest with 30 being on the defensive end. Senior 
Aja Blount leads the team with 7.0 boards per game while Juste-Jean is right behind with 6.0 rebounds per contest. As a team, the Chants forced 27 turnovers in their season-opening game.
 
ABOUT SOUTH CAROLINA STATE
 
The Bulldogs offense runs through the duo of Trinity Klock and Nicole Gwynn. Klock and Gwynn are averaging 19.0 and 15.0 points, respectively. SCSU is shooting 40 percent from the field while their opponents are shooting 38.4 from the floor.
 
Defensively, Klock is grabbing 11.0 rebounds per game while blocking five of her opponent's shots. As a team, the Bulldogs are averaging 35.0 rebounds per game.
