CONWAY, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina women's basketball team will travel just up the coastline to Wilmington, N.C., on Saturday, take on coastal rival UNCW. The Chanticleers and Seahawks are scheduled to tip-off at 2 p.m. ET inside the Trask Coliseum.
Coastal is off to a 3-0 start for the second time in the last three seasons after dispatching Erskine 74-24 at home last Tuesday. UNCW is off to a 1-2 beginning under fifth-year head coach Karen Barefoot.
COASTAL vs. UNCW HISTORY
CCU trails in the overall series between the two programs 7-23 but currently owns a two-game winning streak over the Seahawks. The series began in 1974 with Coastal winning the first two meetings before dropping the next 12. Before 2017 and 2019, the two programs last met in 2010 with UNCW picking up a 79-45 road victory in Conway, S.C.

Senior forward
Aja Blount leads the program with an average of 22 points per game while newcomer junior
Blayre Shultz is second averaging 10.3 points per contest. True freshman
Arin Freeman is tied with Shultz in helping their teammates score as both are handing out 4.3 assists per game.
On the defensive end of the floor, Blount is the team's top rebounder having grabbed 18 on the season to average 6.0 boards per game while true freshman
Angie Juste-Jean is second on the team in rebounding with 5.0 rebounds per game. Senior
Janeen Camp has blocked six shots over the first three games. Defensively, CCU is allowing just 35.3 points per game while holding opponents to a .255 shooting percent.
ABOUT UNCW
UNCW is averaging 61.7 points per game in its first three games of the year while hitting 40.5 percent of their shots. The Seahawks offense is led by the duo of Sierra DeCosta and Carrie Gross with 15.7 and 13.0 points per game, respectively.
Defensively, UNCW is allowing their opponents to shoot 46.3 percent from the field while allowing 86.7 points per game. Dejah Carter leads the team with 17 rebounds and one block. DeCosta leads the team with four steals with Gross swiping three of her own.
