CONWAY, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina University men's basketball team will open play at the Baha Mar Nassau Championship against the winner of the Valparaiso and Jacksonville State game on Tuesday, Nov. 23 at 8:00 p.m. ET at the Baha Mar Convention Center.
 
The Chants were originally scheduled to open play at the Baha Mar against Valparaiso but a change in the schedule pushed CCU back to a Tuesday start against the winner of Jacksonville State and Valparaiso. The game was once again pushed back after a heavy rain storm moved through the area and the roof started leaking over the playing facilty. The games were then moved to the practice facility where all the games will be played on Tuesday.
 
CCU (1-1) defeated Ferrum to open the season and fell to UNCW in their last outing. Jacksonville State enters the tournament 1-2 overall, while Valparaiso is 0-3 to start the tournament.
 
The Chants are led by sophomore Essam Mostafa who had a double-double in each of the first two games this season. He now has 11 career double-double marks and is averaging 17.5 points and 12.5 rebounds per game.
 
Newcomer Vince Cole has made an immediate impact for CCU already this season averaging 14.0 points per game.
 
CCU has never played Valparaiso on the hardcourt, but has met Jacksonville State twice, an 88-78 home win in 2004 and a 71-82 loss at JSU in 2005.
 
The Nassau Championship has been designed for mid-major NCAA Division I programs and the event this year will include Charlotte, Drexel, Jacksonville State, Toledo, Tulane, and Valparaiso along with CCU. Each team will play three games during the championship.
