CONWAY, S.C. – The 2021-22 Coastal Carolina women's basketball team will kick off the 2021-22 season against Agnes Scott on Tuesday, Nov. 9, at the HTC Center in Conway, S.C. The opening tip is scheduled for 5 p.m. and will be the first game of a doubleheader with the men's team.
The game will be the first meeting between the programs on the hardwood.
ABOUT COASTAL
The Chanticleers return four starters from the 2020-21 season, which averaged 64.7 points per game, and just six players from the roster that saw action last season. Senior's
Aja Blount and
Tyra Brown will be joined by junior
Deaja Richardson and graduate student
Janae Camp as the only players to start more than 10 of the 18 contests last year. Also seeing significant action last year was senior
Janeen Camp and sophomore
Brali Simmons.
Blount led the team and the Sun Belt in scoring averaging at 16.2 points per game while Richardson was second on the team with 14.0 points per contest. Blount and
Janae Camp finished first and second on the team in rebounds with 8.3 and 6.8, respectively.
ABOUT AGNES SCOTT
The Scotties finished 0-14 in the 2020-21 season while averaging 28.7 points per game and giving up 88.0 points per contest. Senior Shay Sweat led Agnes Scott last season averaging 9.1 points per game.
AGNES SCOTT'S LAST TIME OUT
Agnes Scott fell 84-47 to Bob Jones on Friday, Nov. 5. Erika McLeod led the Scotties with 11 points while last year's scoring leader Sweat tallied six points. McLeod was 5-of-5 from the floor while Sweat was 2-of-4. Sydney Evans pulled down seven total rebounds, three offensive and four defensive, while Sweat grabbed six defensive boards.
