Chants looking to break Sun Belt Conference skid
CONWAY, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina women's basketball team will look to break its current nine-game losing skid against Sun Belt Conference opponents when the Chanticleers face Appalachian State on Saturday, Feb. 13, at 4 p.m. ET.
The Chants (3-10, 0-9 SBC) will be looking to avenge a 72-58 loss at home to the Mountaineers this past Wednesday, Feb. 10. In that contest, Coastal's Aja Blount scored a season-high 30 points and recorded her second double-double of the season as she tied her season-high of 11 rebounds. In Wednesday's contest, Coastal made just one less field goal than App State but the Mountaineers connected on 10 three-point field goals in the game and out-rebounded the Chants 40-25.
In addition to Blount's 30 points, sophomore guard Deaja Richardson chipped in with 11 points and three steals for the Chanticleers while playing all but 54 seconds of the game.
Coastal will be looking to slow down the three-point shooting of App State (9-10, 6-7 SBC) and guard Brooke Bigott. The junior scored a career-high 23 points this past Wednesday and connected on a program-tying record seven three-point baskets (7-of-11). In addition to Bigott's career night, the Mountaineers are led by leading scorer Pre Stanley who had 17 points against the Chants on Wednesday.
The game will be broadcast live on ESPN+, the Chanticleers Sports Network at 105.5 Hank FM, and online at www.GoCCUsports.com.
