Women's Golf Heads to Florida for Moon Golf Invite

CONWAY – Fresh off the Battle at Old South championship, the Coastal Carolina women's golf program will head to Melbourne, Fla., where they will play in the highly-competitive Moon Golf Invitational hosted by the University of Louisville, Sunday-Tuesday, Feb. 14-16.
The three-day event will be played on the par-72, 6,383 yards Duran Golf Club that was designed by Lewis C. Powell and opened in 2005. Each team will play 18 holes each day and will feature a total of 18 teams, including six teams that are ranked among the top nine teams in the nation and three other ranked teams in the latest Golfweek Women's Team Collegiate Rankings.
Leading the participating ranked teams are No. 2 South Carolina, No. 4 Virginia, No. 6 LSU, No. 7 Auburn, No. 8 Arkansas, and No. 9 Florida. Other ranked teams in the field include No. 12 Miami, No. 16 Oklahoma, No. 20 Alabama, No. 22 Central Florida, and No. 27 Texas A&M.
The other teams joining the event with Coastal and Louisville are Florida State, Augusta, Illinois, North Carolina, and FGCU.
Tiffany Arafi will be making her first appearance of the season to lead the Chanticleers at the Moon Golf Invite. Nicole Abelar is looking to continue her hot play after her performance at the Battle at Old South two weeks ago, a performance which saw her finish second in the first round of individual play and her final putt on the 18th hole of match play gave CCU the victory.
Caitlin Evans-Brand, Sophia Carlseon and Heidrun Hlynsdottir will also be representing the Chants.
The event will begin at 8 a.m. ET each day and live scoring for the event can be found at www.goccusports.com.
