Women's Golf Shaves Five Strokes on Second Day of Moon Golf Invite

Melbourne, Fla. – After shooting an 11-over 299 in yesterday's first round of the Moon Golf Invitational, the Chanticleers knocked off five strokes in Monday's second round, finishing with a six-over 294. The two-round total gives them a 17-over 593 and has them heading into tomorrow's final round in 15th place on the team leaderboard.
 
Sophia Carlsen followed up her even-par first round with another even-par performance in today's action. She opened play with a one-under 35 in her first nine holes and followed that with a one-over 37 on the back nine to complete her even-par round. Her even-par two-day total of 144 has her tied for 26th place heading into the third and final round.
 
Freshman Nicole Abelar had a consistent day of action shooting a 36 on both the front and back nine to finish with an even-par 72. She knocked four strokes off her opening day 76 and her 36-hole score of 151 has her heading into the third round tied for 52nd.
 
Heidrun Hlynsdottir had her best round of the early season finishing with a two-over 74, knocking three strokes off her opening round score. She shot a 37 on her first nine and followed that up with another 37 on her second nine holes of the day. She sits at seven-over with a 151 (77-74) and is tied at 68th.
 
Juniors Caitlin Evans-Brand and Tiffany Arafi were both up-and-down in today's action as both finished with a four-over 76. Evans-Brand had a tough opening nine holes shooting a four-over 40 but turned it around over the final nine holes for an even-par 36. She has shot a seven-over 151 after the first two rounds and is tied for 68th.
 
Arafi shot a one-over 37 in the first nine holes but finished her second nine holes with a three-over 39. Her round of 76 was the same score she shot in the first round and her two-day total of 152 has her tied for 75th place.
 
No. 2 South Carolina continues to lead the event with a 21-under 555. No. 6 LSU is next with an 11-under 565. The rest of the top five are No. 4 Virginia at nine-under 567, No. 22 Central Florida at five-under 571, and Florida State at four-under 572.
