CONWAY, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina women's tennis team defeated Charleston Southern 6-1 on a cold Sunday afternoon at the Lynn Stevens Tennis Complex.
Sunday's win is the seventh-straight home win for Coastal dating back to last season and the third consecutive win over the Buccaneers.
Coastal got off to an early 1-0 lead as it captured the doubles point with a 6-3 win at court number two and a 6-2 victory on court three.
CCU freshman
Jesse Hollins got Coastal on the board first in singles play with her second straight-sets win at 6-0, 6-3 at No.6, while two-time reigning Sun Belt Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Week
Somer Dalla-Bona followed with a win in straight sets at 6-0, 6-2 at position No. 1. Sophomore
Victoire De Samucewicz earned her first career win as a Chant in straight sets 7-6, 6-0 on court No. 3.
At No.5, sophomore
Valentina Urelli rallied from 4-1 in the second set to win the match 7-6 after taking the first set 6-4.
CCU senior
Kristyna Jurkova overcame a first-set loss to defeat Khyanna Singh in three sets 6-7, 6-2, 11-9 at No.4 to put the final score at 6-1.
The Chanticleers (2-2) will return to action on the road versus College of Charleston in Charleston, S.C., on Wednesday, Feb. 24. The match is set for a 1:30 p.m. ET start time
