CONWAY – The Coastal Carolina University women's golf team will travel back to Florida this weekend to play in the Eighth Annual Florida State Match-up in Tallahassee, Fla., at the Seminole Legacy Golf Course Friday-Sunday, Feb. 26-28.

The Seminole Legacy Golf Course is the home of the Florida State men's and women's golf programs and has a par-72, 6,255 yard layout. The three-day event will feature 18 holes of play each day.

The event will feature 14 teams that include three ranked teams and another team that's receiving votes in the latest Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) poll. Host Florida State is ranked No. 11 with the other ranked teams being Kent State (No. 14) and Michigan State (No. 25), while South Florida is receiving votes.

Other teams joining the Chanticleers in the event are Clemson, Jacksonville, Kansas State, Notre Dame, Memphis, Mercer, Minnesota, Missouri, and Ohio State.

CCU players making the trip for the event are Tiffany Arafi, Caitlin Evans-Brand, Sophia Carlsen, Heidrun Hlynsdottir, and Nicole Abelar.

This is an event the Chants are very familiar with as not only have they played in the event almost every year, but they have seen great success in. Back in 2018 the Chants tied their program-best 54-hole low score with a nine-under 855. Their two-day, 54-hole score of eight-under 568 is the second-best 54-hole score in program history. Their 2018 final score is still tied for the sixth-best score in tournament history.

Former Chant great Malene Krolboll Hansen shot a seven-under 209 during that event which still stands as tied for the eighth-best individual score in event history.

The event is one the Chants play in every year and it's a home coming of sorts for head coach Katie Quinney as she played at Florida State from 2001-04 and served as an assistant coach for the Noles following her graduation.
