MYRTLE BEACH, S.C - Sophomore Dallas Wise led the Chanticleer track and field team on Friday at the Alan Connie Shamrock Invitational with his third first-place finish of the season in his third different event.

On Friday, Wise earned the top result of the long jump with a jump of 7.30 (3.0) meters. Junior Alex Spillum achieved a personal-best result of 7.16 (3.3) meters to earn a fourth-place finish, and freshman Kaden Turner earned a top-10 result in the competition with a sixth-place finish and a distance of 6.81 (3.0) meters.

Freshman Garrett Garmen rounded out CCU men in the long jump in 14th-place with a distance of 6.48 (-0.0) meters.

Saturday's final of the 110-meter hurdles will feature three Chanticleers out of the group of eight competitors.

On Friday, Braydon Bennett had the fastest qualifying of the three heats as the freshman finished with a personal-best time of 14.28 (1.2). Fellow freshman Tyler Graves is coming off a first-place finish at last weekend's Myrtle Beach Collegiate Invitational in the same event, qualified for Saturday's final with the third-best time of the three heats as he crossed the finish line with a time of 14.61 (1.2). Rounding out the finals will be Jaquon Williams, as the sophomore finished with a mark of 15.05 (0.6).

Isaac Murdock fell short of making Saturday's 110-meter final as the senior finished his heat with a time of 16.69 (2.5).

The 4x200 relay team of Turner, Williams, Garmen, and DeVonte Harris finished with six team points, as the foursome finished in third place with a time of 1:32.56.
In the 100-meter preliminaries, CCU's Harris and Ty Floyd earned spots in Saturday's final. Harris finished with a time of 10.86 (2.2) in fifth place and Floyd crossed the finish line right behind Harris' time at 10.87 (5.0).

Aaron Keeler earned his second top-10 finish of the season on Friday afternoon in the javelin, as the sophomore finished in eighth place with a throw of 46.26 meters.

In the men's hammer throw, Kwesi Jackson finished in 11th place with a season-best throw of 42.33 meters. Three spots behind in 14th place was teammate Major Chestnut who finished with the mark of 40.13 meters.

Sophomore Monroe Thompkins earned a top-15 finish in the 5000 meters on Friday afternoon. The Conway, S.C. native earned a 14th-place finish with a time of 15:43.64.

The 4x200-relay team of Tariney Pepper, Amaryah White, Mycal Bowser, and Lauren Gordon finished with ten team points as the foursome finished three seconds ahead of the second-place team Wofford for first-place with a time of 1:40.96.
Melissa Jefferson led four Chanticleers into Saturday's 100-meter finals as she finished with a time of 11.54 (2.3), a top-five time in school history. Joining Jefferson will be Jermaisha Arnold who had the third-fastest time at 11.76 (3.7), Kayla Sweeney finished the preliminaries with the fourth-fastest time of 11.86 (2.3), and Keniah Wallace's 12.15 (2.3) was the sixth-fastest time on the day.
Gordon fell short of making Saturday's 100-meter final as the freshman finished her heat with a time of 12.43 (2.3).

Three freshman Chanticleer sprinters advanced to Saturday's eight-person final of the 100-meter hurdles.

Erin Palmer was the event's top qualifier, as she would finish heat two with a time of 14.09 (3.4). Shani'a Bellamy finished heat one in first place with a time of 14.23 (5.1), and fellow sprinter Sydney Clemens was the eighth-fast qualifier in the two heats to advance with a time of 14.84 (1.1).

Bowser led the Chants in the women's long jump on the afternoon when the freshman finished third-place. The Easley, S.C. native finished with a leap of 5.23 (2.7) meters, and fellow Chanticleer Zaria Stephens finished in 18th-place in the event with a mark of 4.05 (-0.0) meters.

Junior Katie Bond reached a height of 2.90 meters in the pole vault as the junior finished in seventh place on the day.

Freshman Alexis Estep placed 11th out of 36 competitors in the women's hammer throw of 42.74 meters. Kacey Lombard earned a top-20 finish in the event, as the freshman finished 16th with a distance of 36.63 meters.Â

After day one, the Coastal men sits in fifth place with six team points and the women are in third place with 10 team points.

Day two of the Alan Connie Shamrock Invitational will kick-off on Saturday at 10 a.m. A special presentation for Chanticleer coach Alan Connie will take place on Doug Shaw Stadium's infield at 10:45 a.m. ET.
