CONWAY, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina women's soccer team will wrap up its season on the road against the No. 10 University of South Carolina Gamecocks on Sunday, March 21, in Columbia, S.C. The opening kickoff is scheduled for 2 p.m. ET.
The Chanticleers enter the contest with a 7-7 overall record, after falling to the No. 5 Duke Blue Devils 6-0 in their last outing on March 17. The Gamecocks are currently 8-3 after they defeated the College of Charleston 3-0 to open their spring season on March 7.
CCU will continue to use a mixed lineup of veteran players and newcomers this spring season to get the younger players playing experience. Freshmen who saw significant action on the pitch against UNCW, College of Charleston, and Duke included
Ellie Wolski,
Carleigh Frilles,
Taylor Tolson, and
Maria Folgero while sophomore
Ky Hudson has logged all 270 minutes of action in goal.
South Carolina is led by Catherine Barry with 10 points on four goals and two assists while Lauren Chang is second on the team with two goals and three assists for seven points.
Defensively, Heather Hinz has seen the bulk of the action in goal for the Gamecocks and Taylor Fox having earned three starts in goal. Hinz has tallied 30 saves on the year with a 6-2 record and Fox has added nine saves for a 2-1 record.
