CONWAY, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina women's lacrosse team will return to Brooks Stadium to host former conference foe Campbell on Wednesday, March 24 in Conway, S.C. The midweek matchup opening draw is scheduled for noon ET.
The Chants enter the contest with a 6-2 record after earning the program's second win (14-7) against the Delaware Blue Hens on Sunday while the Camels are 2-4 and coming off a 16-12 loss to William & Mary on Saturday.
ABOUT COASTAL
The Chanticleers have seven players in double digits for points with
Samantha Courtemanche (21 goals, 18 assists, and 39 points) leading the team in goals, assists, and points. Redshirt freshman
Kayla Downey is second with 28 points on 16 goals and 12 assists while true freshman
Monica Manley is third with 12 goals and seven assists for 19 points. Redshirt sophomore
Lauren Cremen is tied for second in goals scored with 17 while junior
Megan Bozzi (11 goals, three assists), graduate student
Abbey Buchanan (eight goals, four assists), and redshirt senior
Megan Busch (two goals, eight assists) have 14, 12, and 10 points, respectively.
Defensively, the Chants are led by redshirt freshman goalkeeper
Claire Martell who has allowed 69 goals while facing 133 shots on goal. She has tallied 64 saves for a .478 save percentage and has earned all six wins on the season. The Verbank, N.Y. native has also caused five turnovers and grabbed up 16 ground balls.
Graduate students
Anya McSorley and
Emily D'Orsaneo aide in the defensive third by causing 14 and 12 turnovers, respectively.
Sarah Trupp, a graduate transfer, has added 10 caused turnovers while scooping up 13 ground balls while D'Orsaneo and McSorley have 19 and 10 ground balls apiece.
D'Orsaneo is now alone at the top of the program's career caused turnover list with 60.
ABOUT CAMPBELL
The Camels offense has five players with double digits for points as Sam Bischoff (15 goals, 3 assists) leads the team with 18 points. Julianna Sanchez is second on the team with 17 points on 15 goals and two assists while Megan Matthews has seven goals and eight assists for 15 points. Ally Heath and Rasa Welsh each have 11 (seven goals, four assists) and 10 (four goals, six assists) points, respectively. In the midfield, Sanchez and Lizzie Yurchak get the offense going with 56 and 23 draw controls, respectively.
On the defensive third, Alex Salim sees the bulk of the action in between the pipes. The redshirt junior goalkeeper has allowed 64 goals while recording 46 of the team's 53 saves for a .418 save percentage.
Yurchak, Chandler Stewart, and Rebekah Taylor each have seven caused turnovers while Yurchak leads the team by scooping up 15 ground balls.
