Conway, S.C. – Coastal Carolina beach volleyball recorded its fifth and sixth 5-0 sweep of the season with a pair of 5-0 wins over Erskine on Friday afternoon at the Coastal Carolina Beach Volleyball Complex.
With the two wins, the Chanticleers improved to 12-4 on the season and are currently riding a five-match winning streak while the Fleet fall to 1-11 on the year.
Match 1: Coastal Carolina 5, Erskine 0
The team of
Carli Ginther and
Ellie Hanford got the home team on the board first with a dominant straight-set win at 21-10, 21-9 at the No. 4 position to open the match.
With the 1-0 advantage, the experienced duo of
Kalin Eske and
Kendra Lukacs picked up a win at the No. 5 position, defeating the team of Allison Carter and Maisy Garner 21-13, 21-15, while the No.2 junior duo of
Martine Kragholm and
Lucy Campbell cruised to in a 21-11, 21-7 straight-set win to seal the win for the Chants.
The Sandy Chants completed the sweep with a 21-7, 21-13 win at the top-flight by
Sarlota Svobodova and
Irena Drobnjak, while the freshmen pair of
Sarah Riedell and
Emma Gonzalez held off the team of Emily Gilbert and Emily Alanis for a three-set win at 21-23, 21-10, 15-11 at the No. 3 flight.
Match 2: Coastal Carolina 5, Erskine 0
Coastal Carolina recorded another sweep over the Flying Fleet of Erskine on Friday afternoon to improve to 12-4 on the season with the sweep.
The tandem of Eske and Lukacs picked up a win by a score of 21-17, 21-14 on court No. 5 to put the home team on the board first at 1-0.
With the 1-0 advantage, the team of Hanford and Ginther held on for a 21-14, 22-20 victory at the No. 4 flight, while the No. 3 team of Gonzalez and Riedell cruised to a 21-14, 21-9 straight-set win to seal the win for the Chants.
The Sandy Chants completed the sweep with a 21-18, 21-10 win at the No. 2 flight by Svobodova and
Madison Allred, while the junior pair of Kragholm and Campbell battled to defeat Morgan Browne and Olivia Browne 21-15, 22-20 on the top spot.
The Chants will host Carson Newman for two matches on Sunday with the first match scheduled for 10 a.m. ET and the second match to begin at noon ET.
